Fewer mosquitoes, more butterflies.
A safe and effective way to deal with mosquitos without spraying.
How it works.
The buckets are placed around the yard. The organic matter in the water releases carbon dioxide to attract mosquitoes, who love to lay their eggs in still water. The Bti in the buckets will kill all larvae soon after they hatch, preventing future mosquitoes from flying around your yard, biting you, and spreading diseases. And the more people in your area using No Spray NJ, the fewer mosquitoes you will see.

A 5-gallon, dark-colored (black, red, or orange) bucket and lid with enough room to let mosquitoes in.
Water and organic yard debris (grass clippings or leaves).
A Bti Mosquito Dunk (containing Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti), a natural, safe bacterium). Bti is not a chemical, but rather it is a naturally occurring soil bacterium used as a biological insecticide, primarily for controlling mosquito and black fly larvae. It starts working immediately but needs to be replaced/replenished approximately every 3 weeks.

Rumson / Fair Haven and the greater Monmouth County.

The naturally occurring soil bacterium (Bti) works the moment it enters water. That means mosquitoes can go there any time after you place the buckets.
The mosquitoes lay their eggs in the buckets, the old ones die (typically within 2-3 weeks), and the eggs do not reach completion.
The Bti and water need to be replaced / replenished approximately every 3 weeks to protect your yard for the whole summer.
